R.E. Lee & Sons, Inc., founded in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1939, began as builders and restorers of fine and historic homes. In the mid 1950's, they expanded their work to include commercial and industrial projects as well.

From then on the company grew steadily in size, in the complexity of the projects it undertook, and in geographic scope.

Today, the company's primary market continues to be the construction and renovation of commercial offices, retail, condominiums and apartments, private schools, institutional, hotels, medical facilities and restoration of historic buildings. Although R. E. Lee & Son focuses heavily on the Central Virginia market, they operate throughout Virginia.
